Reporting Emails As "phishing Scams" .... Does It Do Any Good ????

Every now and again I get the odd email claiming to be from my bank, or Microsoft .... etc .... which I always click on "phishing scam". I then get the message, "Thanks! Reporting phishing scams helps keep your and others' personal information safe".

BUT ..... does anyone actually do anything about these, at the other end (if so, what??) .... or is it just a waste of time ??

I stopped reporting them several years ago after realising that many of my reports were not even acknowledged.

I report to Paypal any phishing scams. I sometimes get an acknowledgement, sometimes not. Whether my reports are acted upon or not I believe it may be in my best interest to point out to Paypal that I am trying to keep my eye on the ball should I have to come back to them regarding an unlawful transaction made from my account without my knowledge. It only takes a few minutes to forward a phishing report, and after all, they take the trouble to circulate to their customers how a scam can be detected so I think it is wise to reciprocate.

Just to clarify, when I'm reporting emails for phishing, I'm reporting them to my email provider.
One of my main email providers is hotmail and one of the options on an email is to report it as a phishing scam, so I'd assume the report goes to Microsoft (in my case anyway) ??
I know about reporting individual emails, such as the ones claiming to be from Paypal - I report them to [email protected] (or whatever the address is, can't quite remember).
I'm just wondering if anyone at Microsoft is actually doing anything, every time I report an email as a phishing scam ......
