I've been watching a Buy it Now item on eBay for a while. It started at 18.99,and the price was reduced to 15.99 a week or so ago. I got an email a short while ago...."Price reduced!!...you watched this at 1999.00....you save 1980.00!!! It's now 19.00. Wow.
I've sent off an irate email to eBay...will it do any good?
I think while you were watching it the seller changed the price and forget to put the decimal point in. When he realised what he'd done he changed it again.
Those emails are automated.
There's no accounting for peoples actions… and Ebay proves that in spades! Several times I've re-listed something for sale and lowered the price somewhat. After the 3rd or 4th re-list, I've occasionally raised the price… sometimes higher than the original listing and… whammo! Sold! In one case the item was the center of a bidding war after I raised the price… unique concept...
I once emailed a seller to ask if they'd made a mistake on a listing...can't remember what the item was but it should've been something like ten quid and they had a buy it now price of one hundred quid.
The reply was that they were out of stock, waiting for stock to come back in, so they'd put a ridiculous price on the listing (knowing that no-one would buy at that price) to keep their position in the listing place.
Why are you 'irate' -seriously -if you wanted to buy it buy it -its an obvious mistake on the part of the seller and Ebay have sent out automated emails. Can't for the life of me understand what is to get irate about other than boredom to be honest.
Retrochic...did you not read any of the answers...in particular, MINE? I said I was exaggerating when I said I was irate. Wind your neck in...for once.
