Ordered Goods From China

Hi chatterbankers, Wonder if any of you can offer some advice .... recently ordered a couple of cheap items, via Amazon, and it's very obvious that they are both coming from China. In the light of this Corona virus epidemic, I am not sure what to do. They aren't particuarly expensive items (quite the opposite), but I don't want to unwittingly bring the virus into my home .... and all the associated stuff with infecting others. Call me paranoid, but all this is very scary - if you were in my shoes, would you accept the parcels into your home? If the postie or delivery person actually delivers the packets in to my hands, I know I can physically refuse delivery, but he/she could well just stick them through the letter box if I'm not at home ... what do you think?

I understood it's predominantly an airborne virus, so you may want to check whether that's the case
A person at work had exactly the same thing happen to them about two weeks ago. When they received the parcel (car part so quite expensive), they noticed the parcel had been shipped from Wuhan (I am not kidding), they did open it. Over the course of the next few days this person started to have 'flu-like' symptoms. They were sent home from work on the orders of the company MD (who was apparently rather angry), they are now in their second week of absence, although as far as I am aware do not have Corona virus. I have no idea whether any of this is just a very bad co-incidence, though.
Put the parcels into isolation, in the shed, for 3 weeks and see if they get infected, before opening them.
The World Health Organisation has said
"Yes, it is safe. People receiving packages from China are not at risk of contracting 2019nCoV.
"From previous analysis, we know coronaviruses do not survive long on objects, such as letters or packages."
I've had three parcels from China through Amazon, i opened them no problem, I'm of the thinking that the virus wouldn't withstand the journey.

Thanks for your thoughts everyone, I am of a mind to refuse delivery, but I will continue pondering for another few days. Best wishes, Chox.
If there was any danger of this kind of spreading, the gov would put a halt to imports from China. I would hope!
I have to confess that I quickly cancelled an order from e-bay when i realised it would come from China.
It's personal choice, I am content with the advice as given by The World Health Organisation.
If you are concerned and the items are very cheap then put some disposable gloves on and accept the delivery but do not open it. Put the whole parcel under a hot tap for a thorough wash and then throw it in the landfill bin.
Jeez - if only this concern extended to flu.......OTT.....
Couldn’t agree more, DTC.
I also cancelled my order from China with no problem, this was via eBay.
