This is not a dig at moderators so please keep it civil.  CB is the only section I could think of posting.

The only way we can communicate with mods is in full sight on here.  To be honest I really didn't want to post the thread I did to TTT openly.  And there also was another thread that really should have gone more quickly yesterday imho.  So we have to ask openly if there are mods about and openly point out the thread.  This has problems.

Could there be a set up where you can post privately to mods?

On other sites I have used if you have a problem you can post it privately to all mods where they obviously can pop in and read and reply privately.

Owner/and eds are scarcely about, even less so reporting is a waste of time.  Again my opinion.

Something like a mod hub where mods can discuss things, if they wish, in private.

I can see problems with this, although I know you mean well.

I have often read posts on here accusing mods of colluding behind the scenes, gossiping and plotting against other ABers.  If such a group exists I know nothing of it.

Also, if A reported B privately to mods, A could think the mod was favouring B if he didn't think any Site Rules were being broken.  If the post was removed, B could accuse any mod of favouring any ABer he thought had reported him.

Further, all rules are open to interpretation.  Mod A might agree that action should be taken, the others think differently. Then you would have the mods arguing between themselves.

Nice idea, Lottie, but I think it would be more trouble than it's worth.

I'm sure some mods would disagree with me

So let me get this, you want to be able to ask mods to remove posts YOU dont like?

I think the mods remove enough posts.

I am a newbie/new boy here so am finding all threads, complaints, moans about mods very tiring.

The only threads which bother me are the spam/gummies etc. Other than those, the rest I ignore and just answer where I can help

Floko, the mods zap them as soon as they spot them 😊

I know you do Barry and well done . You have to answer the call of nature and eat sometime πŸ˜€

I think it would solve a lot of the nastiness on here Barry.  Some mods have arguments between themselves in full view Barry.  Not a pleasant sight  :0)

Perhaps if the eds were around or answered emails on a regular basis...........   something needs doing.  I could see another big problem brewing yesterday, but wasn't going to report it or call for a mod.

mais oui mon brave

o god watch this post go up the lu-lu at faster than light. Nothing more incendiary ( haw haw haw get it) than some French in a post - - - wowie !

Lol given the tone of some of the communication I have had with Ed - we are probably better off without them

Question Author

You are completely wrong ymfa.  It would just be a way of reporting that would put reports all in one place so that things could be dealt with more quickly or discussed with other mods.  I had good reason  to report a person who day upon day insulted me with the same insult. I very rarely report anyone.

Again please keep this civil.

Fluko this thread is not about insulting mods, far from it.

I don't know if I am correct, but it appears the Eds have recruited several mods (unpaid minions) to do all the work while the Eds take weekends off . Nice work if you can get it.

I understand countrylover ☺️

Floko, most large sites like this have voluntary mods.  I also mod for Nextdoor which has a very different and complex system in my view.

I don't expect a free to use site like AB to be moderated by paid staff 24/7.

//Again please keep this civil.  //

And there you go again getting all high and mighty, this is why people dislike you.

It is a civil post you are always whining that is why I amde the post, stop it the mods have enough of a job without more heaped on them.

Countrylover - Some Mods do have arguments, but not about moderation.

They argue as AB'ers, which is what they are, and as such, are entitled to argue with whom they like, about what they like, subject to Site Rules.

I argue regularly with other Mods, but never ever about moderation actions and decisions, and to the best of my knowledge, neither have they.

well you know what they say....."There's only one thing worse than being talked about........"πŸ‘½

Weekends and most of the week now Fluko. I think the owner is more interested in his other ventures.

Fair enough then. I am also on a mod on a freecycling site so I am unpaid too

Question Author

Andy, but some mods make underhand remarks about other mods!

Honestly, this site is pretty low on the nastiness scale. Compared to some places.

I agree with Floko @15.25
