It seems a risky business taking your used carrier bag to the shops now. Its was the 3rd time in a month yesterday I was asked if the bag I had was a new one. So I said yet again NO can't you see its all creased from being in my pocket.

You now have the self service staff walking around with them in their hand, the security for carrier bags is on par with a beef steak. :0))

3 times in a month doesn't seem too bad, at least it's not cavity searches to see if you're smuggling them into the shops. (Online shopping anyone?!)

It never bothers be being challenged by someone who thinks I might be breaking a rule/stealing etc. Perhaps working in secure government establishments for 40+ years, where you are always open to a random search for security purposes, makes me immune to being offended.

A few years ago we were in Aldi in Spain and till operatives put a sticker on the bottom of the bag at time of purchase thereby freeing up lurking drones to cosh shoplifters and other varlets.

I don't know what you mean by that...

The bags are in the control of staff now, usually the one who authirises the sale of alkyhol etc, to stop us nicking them.

Handed out on request and scanned with your shopping.

^^ If you ask for one, or beg  at the self service they scan it for you, just to make sure. :0)

Meanwhile recently arrived hotel guests stroll out laden with all manner of goodies, unchallenged of course so as not to attract cries of racism.

The supermarkets I've used in Spain have lockers at the entrance for your bags, they don't let you carry them round the store. Good idea

That may have been a swimming pool, barry.

12.42 The prices hotels charge I'd want to take a chandelier with me, would need the services of the Trotter family.

I usually take a load of plastic bags from others stores 😆

Some guy who works at Sainsburys my son knew, had instant dismissal a couple of months ago for helping himself to carrier bags at self service when he finished his shift in the mornings. Someone had been keeping an eye on him for some time. He worked there for nearly 20 years..

Well your average bog standard carrier is now 30p. When this carrier charge came into force it was said that profits would go to charitiy? I've not heard of any amounts that have gone in that direction, unless you have?

>>> Well your average bog standard carrier is now 30p

60p in many supermarkets, including Morrisons.

My last delivery came in 10 bags charge one euro, 10 cents each. If I send them back after my next delivery refunded the amount in full

Maybe you look shifty nicebloke.  I have never been stopped except in Trago Mills but they used to stop everyone.

Morrisons online charge 10p a bag and refund the 10p for every bag that you return.

I still have loads of carrier bags from the "bad" old days. I use one "bag for life" for my regular shop & keep a couple of other
bags in the car just in case.

If you're taking your own bag take one that doesn't come from that shop?
