Growth Scan - Update

(to all those that know me and care..those that don't need not read on...:o))

Had my Growth Scan yesterday and just thought i'd inform you that everything was fine. She is small (in comparison to the average baby) but she growing steadily at her own rate so that's the main thing.

She checked the blood flow on both sides of my belly to make sure nothing was effecting the growth and also both me and the baby's heartbeat - which all seeemed fine.


Only rubbish side was that we had a traineee sonographer who was really not very good - she turned the screen away so i couldnt see anything, barely said a word when she was looking around and slightly panicked us by pointing at the baby and asking her trainer what thing's were! More dissapointing because my mum was there so i wanted them to explain bits and bobs to her.... and they never gave us a pic.... :o( But nevermind!! Got to go for another scan at 32 weeks!

glad alls well nat, as long as she is still growing steadily then they will just keep an eye on you.
Shame your mum didnt get to see much and that sonographer wasnt up to speed but havent you got the 4d scan soon, your mum will love that one.

Could go for the 4D scan next week probably but i haven't contacted them just yet...might leave it for another couple of weeks....so she's really well developed!

The best presents come in small packages nat, (and cause the most trouble when they arrive lol). great news though, and as redcrx says it's a shame you didnt get a photo. Can you feel her kicking yet?

make sure you dont leave it too late, they will have told you what the latest week is you can go, as baby can get a bit cramped in there and you wont be able to see so much.
still keeping an eye out for bargains for you :)

awww thanks john! yes she's kicking a lot now! Dont even have to feel it, you can see my belly jump when i'm laying down!

Good point red - My fellas sis had her 4D scan and her little boy had his arm covering his face for the whole time - although think he may have just been camera shy...lol.

(we bought some more baby grows and outfits!! Just cant help it!!lol)

oh and my uncles giving us his babys car seat and moses basket!! Massive bonus!!

We had to pay for our pics at our 20 week scan... not sure if that's NHS policy acorss the board or not. We did get some 12 week pics for 'free' at a private NT scan though which cost �125... I'd have hoped for colour at that price ;o).

Anyway, glad to hear things are progressing ok. Did they give you a predicted weight at all?

thats brilliant, you may need to buy new mattress for moses basket though. But at least you know the history of the car seat so thats good.
Im struggling to resist buying cute outfits for my 'nephews' girlfriend at mo. She is going for 20wk scan next week and is going to find out the sex so then I sahll no doubt go crazy. all the kids in family are boys so will be a huge surprise if a little girl.

OBonio - Thanks - yeah, they usually take pics and give them to us - they didnt even ask for money (think its because they werent all that clear due to my bowel gas :O( lol) so it was just strange that they didnt this time -maybe because it was a growth scan they just wanted to record babys measurements.

And yes, they did predict the babys weight but i cant remember what it was exactly - at home on paper...!

lol redcrx - it is tempting!! My friends keep asking for list from me for the Baby Shower- so i had better get my ar$e in gear!

Great news Nat! i'm really glad that all is well. I'm going for my growth scan next week - would've gone sooner if they could have fit me in lol and i've been looking at these 4d scans and they look brill! Have you decided on any names? xx

Thanks Missy! How're things going for you? Never knew you were going for a Growth Scan?! Your bubs a little small too?

I'm sure i've asked you this before (but i'll ask again!) - do you know the sex yet?!

Yeah i had a few troubles with baby :o( started with some bleeding and then that stopped then my doctor made this appointment for a growth scan to asses the baby and he said something about downs syndrome also, which kind of worried me! On the other scan baby doesn't look small but there you go!

I am in two minds about whether to find out the sex but i think i'm gunna wait (even though i can't bear the excitement!) and my mam is going to pay for me to have a 4d scan done :o)

Aww thats frustrating..... how many weeks are you now? but remember that a lot of women show some signs of bleeding whilst being pregnant, but as you're fairly young its only natural for you to worry and for the doctors to keep an eye out on you! Did you get your Downs Syndrome results back? Usually the younger you are the lower risk of your baby having it...

What buggy did you get?! I havent bought one yet! Just loadsa little pink clothes (really worried they'll turn around last minute and tell me i'm having a boy!! I'd have the gayest boy in the block! lol)

Lmao!! i've noo idea what sex it is but i just have the weirdest feeling that it's a girl!! No i haven't got my down syndrome results back yet and i'm kinda waiting with baited breath to be honest he just took a scan of how much fluid was round baby's neck whch is meant to determind whether baba has down syndrome. Anyway...what i think i said was....

I'm pretty sure i've read that hospitals recieve Down Syndrome results back fairly quickly - as in the day after... so perhaps its worth giving them a call to maybe put your mind at rest if its worrying you...?
