Strange phone call

I just got a call, on answering it was a recorded message saying "This is a national awareness message. Please listen carefully. Are you having trouble paying debts?" At this point i hung up. I registered my number with TPS over a year ago. Only recently have I started to get cold calls again. I did 1471, but there was no record of this call whatsoever. The last call recorded was from my husbabd at 1pm today. I thought that was a bit strange. Has anyone else experienced this or know who it's from?

yes, i get them weekly to our work number and we are on tps.

Its an advert for these voluntary schemes where you get to write off all debts. IVAs or whatever they are called.

If you contact BT and say you are getting nuisance calls they can block them for you

Thanks to you all for replying. Lol MiniN. I can honestly say I have never been rude to a telesales rep. I just politely say "I'm sorry but I am not interested. Goodbye." I know these people have to make a living like anybody else, but it can be annoying, especially when we are registered with TPS. I still don't know why the call was not registered. Even the silent calls I have received have been recorded on 1471.

I received this call this afternoon too, I am registered with TPS and have caller identification on my 'phone, there was no number displayed just 3 dashes. I hung up as soon as he said national awareness as I realised it was a call I didn't want. It has however registered on my 1471 as they said I was called at whatever time, but did not have the caller's number. I think it may cme from abroad, the recording did seem to have an American accent.
