mobile phone scam problem

I made the big mistake of putting my mobile phone number on a site that was offering freebie stuff. I am on pay-as-you-go but it has eaten the 10 in two days. Seems there is no way of stopping the texts it sends me and which they are charging loads. Other than buying a new sim card and changing my number, seems nothing I can do, unless any of you know different?

Phone you mobile supplier Orange or whatever) and ask them to tell you how to stop these texts. By law every company must have a way of stopping these texts.

Oh, and by the way, DONT put your mobile phone number on a web site again....but I guess you have already relaised that.
Text "STOP" and send it back to them
pay for receiving texts.........surely not?

Enlighten me?
Elvis is right "STOP" or occasionally "STOP ALL" works. If you are still getting problems after that ( ie it doesn't stop) the contact your service provider and icthis.
