msn scam?

hi all,

there seems to be an email doing the rounds and im not sure if its a scam or not...?

its supposedly from someone in your address book with a thing you can download to see who has blocked you on msn, showing the date and for how long etc.

i wasnt sure of the mail so i checked with the sender before opening.

they said theyd not sent any such thing to me, however they had received one themselves earlier that day and opened it saying that it worked....

so, because of this, i opened mine too, but, i wasnt so sure it was for real because some of the details just didnt ring right.

one example was it showed one particular person had blocked me in march 2008 for 11 minutes and we didnt even know each other then!

has anyone else received it?

anyway, i changed my msn password straight after, just incase.

Definitely a scam,and some of thes can be dangerous.
I think you are wise to change your password.
Some of these emails are like a cyber chain letter.You open it,it gets into your address books and sends itself to all the addresses in the book.
That's it,stupid,but to your friends annoying.
Most don't do any more than above,BUT it always pays to be carfeul.
If I don't recognise such mails I don't even open them,just put them in the spam folder.
If it WAS really urgent(and genuine) mail,the person/company will mail me again.

Loadsa people warn me of these various scam e-mails (Bin Laden hung etc.) but I never get em, am I doing something wrong?

It is a scam. You have to give them your sign in details, including password, so they have full access to your address book and MSN emails.
They can then use your MSN address to send spam, which could end up with your MSN account terminated.
You did the right thing changing your password.

said it came from .... they said didn't send ... you opened it anyway I'm gobsmacked ... If I send you my e-mail - will you send me your credit card details ... and all your passwords as well?

and I guess you'll be gobsmacked when your credit card says you bought �500000 worth of stuff you didn't order ... but if your friend says you did ...

you'd better start changing passwords ... and start watching your finances.

Yes it's a scam.

I made something similar to show people how easy it was for scammers to get your details:

Within a few hours I had over a dozen genuine logins and passwords. Naturally, I did nothing with them apart from letting the user know how stupid they had been. A genuine spammer would then send the smae link to all of your contacs once logged in as you.

Advise your friend to change their password immediately.

Someone just filled my fom in, with eatmy.com and a password of steaming turd so if I though tthis was genuine I could go in, have a look at their emails and spam their contacts.

The form I have above is harmless and only goes to me, but many people would now abuse these logins.

Be careful of anything like this.
