Yes... quite nice... they used to have an AMAZING waffle place there! Not been for many many years though.
I live in St Albans :o)

I'm a bit biased! we have Roman remains, a cathedral, lovely parks, some lovely restaurants, pubs, bars aplenty, nice shops and a market on Weds and Sats.

any more? where will you stay?
i could think of a lot better places to spend a couple of days.
the Waffle House is still here.
Oops sorry sara.

Been looking at a hotel called the noke
Question Author
sorry i mean Thistle Hotel St Albans
the Noke is nice, just out of town on a busy road, but does nice weddings etc. I've not been in there.

Sopwell House is the best hotel, I think.

Count, I won't put the kettle on then!
Question Author
WOW Sopwell House looks amazing! very posh

Is st albans an expensive place?
it doesn't have to be, you can choose whether to go upmarket or not.

I looking for kinda of the half way mark if you get me
Looks a lovely place though
here's another lovely hotel.. http://www.stmichaelsmanor.com/
I've not stayed in any local hotels, but would think the Noke (the Thistle) would be good, and we have a Comfort Hotel in town.
Question Author
I hate comfort inn's with a passion lol and travel lodges

That hotel looks lovely think the thistle is my fav plus seen a good deal on it too
just bear in mind that they will probably have a wedding do on the Saturday night, but they can't party all night.. or you could join in!

hope you have a good trip :o)
I went to school in St Albans. The loveliest of places (in spite of the school!!). My friends have always recommended staying at St Michael's Mount and I see sara3 has given you the website link. Enjoy your visit and say hello to it for me!!! :0)
oops! sorry ~ that should have been St Michael's Manor!!
you can see local attractions here. http://www.stmichaelsmanor.com/attraction.asp
