another one bites the dust
I don't think either City or United really wanted it. It's CL or nothing.
If one is a professional athlete there should be no question of not wanting to win a particular game or trophy. It is cheating the fans. No fan base, no money through the turnstiles, no club profit, no kudos for the owner. Result, no wages for the players.
Unfortunately DaisyNonna it doesn't work like real life.
Overpaid prima donnas disguised as "professional sportsmen. They will still get paid ridiculous amounts even though they didn't really compete until the last 30 minutes. They have the team to have that tie sewn up before the 2nd leg.
By the way...i'm a city fan although I refuse to pay to go to watch them. Best part of £60 for 90 minutes "entertainment".

Mattk - Think City realised they wanted it with 30 minutes to go, by that time it was too late
It was the opposite for United! They tried first half but then realised it wasn't going to happen. Didn't see the City game but surprised they pushed on knowing that their only prem title rivals are out.

I haven't seen it but apparently the very last touch of the ball in the game was Joe Hart going very close when he put a header past the post, a goal then would have seen them through.
