Hands up those who thought he'd retired years ago?

When did he actually last play/score regularly? 5 or 6 years ago at Newcastle??

A top striker at his peak but never the same player after suffering bad injuries and in recent years a crock who has been earning good money for sitting on the bench or (more often than not) on the treatment table.

I would like to thank him for all the great work he did for Man Utd and hope he has a great and fullfilling time away from playing the game - seems like a really nice young man.
I will never forget his efforts during 'Movember'
Meant to add - it had to be seen to be believed - he could have a career in a Village People Tribute band
stats from wikipedia (numbers are appearances/goals:-

1996–2004 Liverpool 216/118
2004–2005 Real Madrid 36/13
2005–2009 Newcastle United 71/26
2009–2012 Manchester United 31/5
2012– Stoke City 6/1

i really did hope that he would set a new record scoring record for England
