Will Money Be The Deciding Factor?

Rupert Murdoch's global broadcasting company is exploring an ambitious plan to create a summer football competition featuring Europe's top clubs, including English Premier League sides, with matches to be played in cities from Los Angeles to Shanghai.
I can't imagine that Murdoch is going to fork out for a tournament without at least some of the top players participating but clubs always go on about having such a long season - so will the lure of more Murdoch money prove to be irresistible?

This sound like an AWFUL idea. I hope it never happens. I hate these "pretend" tournaments.

I can't see this working. Certainly, bribery with obscene amounts of money would be the only way it could do, but what the clubs made in extra revenue would surely be offset by the fact that it would be bound to affect their chances in their domestic leagues.
I suppose the danger would be that it might eventually lead to the creation of a world super league to replace the domestic competition.
I think Rupert should stick to finding the next young Chinese bride to look after him in his old age :-)
