Man Utd - Serious Discussion
Ok, without any mud-slinging back and forth, just how deep rooted are the problems at Man Utd? Weak squad (which Fergie could see coming), players wanting to leave (Rooney, Van Persie, Vidic), teams not scared of attacking at Old Trafford, Old Red Nose at every game can't help, and Moyes has now lost the plot stating that they are having to 'play against the referees' as well. Just how bad will things get? Interested to hear from any SERIOUS Man Utd fans.

I can see years of problems at Old Trafford if things continue as they are. I believe the owners of the club are paying back 70-odd million a year in interest, meaning they cannot afford the superstar signings in the way Man City, Chelsea etc can. If United miss out on Champions League football next season, as seems likely, top stars will steer away from going...

You need to think for yourself and not be led by newspaper sensationalism. United are in a transition from a very long standing manager one to a new one. Anyone who expected that to be totally seemless knows nothing about football.
Your team are leading the Premiership, so well done Arsenal. But we are only half way through the season. A bit early for celebrating.
In 2012 United were 10 points clear of City with a month to go and lost the league on the final day. So an 11 point lead is good, but in 4 months, anything can happen. Don't count your chickens until they have hatched.
Before the season started I put a tenner on City to win the league this year, and I am readonably optimistic I will be collecting £££s in May.

Man United earnered £106million more than Arsenal FC in the last 12 months. Even paying back the Glazers £21million annual debt repayments we are ahead.
United missed some of their transfer targets in the summer and spent £29million, mostly on that donkey Faillaini. Arsenal did better spending £43million on not a donkey.
When RVP and Rooney are fit again, and Anderson, Ferdinand, Nani and Evra die a in tragic road accident, our position should improve. ;-)

Gromit, why do you keep comparing the situation with Arsenal? It's really not the point I'm making. And I'm not celebrating anything, or counting chickens, as I also think Man City will win the league. And that last statement is a bit harsh, particularly as two of those have been fantastic for your club.

A lot of United's current squad have been fantastic in the past. But Ferdinand and Giggs are now too old and slow for the Prem. Others like Smalling were never quite good enough. Nani and Anderson showed promise but never quite got there. Cleverley and Butner were plainly never good enough. I think I'd even get rid of Welbeck, just because he frustrates the hell out of me. A major rebuild needs to take place, and that will take 2 or 3 seasons. We may not win anything during that time, but we shouldn't panic buy. The main priority is to scrape 4th place or better. If we do not qualify for the Champions League, the best player won't come. As I keep repeating, things aren't as bad as you are making out. After the same number of games we have the same points as Arsenal had last season and they qualified for the Champions League.
I keep comparing with Arsenal because they are the team you support. Your numerous threads about Manchester United are obviously just posted to wind people up. I understand you may be a bit giddy because the gunners seldom reach the lofty heights they have this season, but that is no excuse for the brattishness you constantly display on your threads.

Ah Gromit, I finally thought you had come to your senses and your first paragraph really talks sense. Then you ruin it by talking about me being giddy because of our lofty position? Well, we've been there in the past and will be there again, but due to some gross mismanagement over the years, both on and off the field, we have struggled big time. There are signs of improvement, but we are miles off the Champions League and as I mentioned before, I don't think we'll win the league this year. So you don't have to try and wind me up regarding Arsenal's failings. I know all about them, believe me. As for brattish? Really? Can't see it myself.
