If so, I'd like to share this with you.

Tilly (in the avatar) has become increasing stiff and achy over the last few months and has been finding life a bit of a struggle. Three weeks ago, she could hardly stand and was holding her front leg up and out at a strange angle. We whipped her off the the vets who said she was having a bad arthritis flare -up and needed some anti inflammatory/pain killing medicine. He prescribed a medicine called Metacam which we had to put in her food. The difference it has made has been amazing. It's as though the clock has been turned back years. She's running, jumping, shaking things to death (slippers) and really enjoys her walks again.

It's lovely to see. She will be kept on this medicine now with regular blood tests to check for possible side effects. It's like a little miracle.

No one else with an old, creaky dog then? That's good.
No I don't have a dog sadly Tilly, but I love animals. So glad to hear this drug has given a new lease of life to your darling doggie, long may it do true, bless her.
*so...not true.....
That's amazing Tilly, I wonder would it work for me?
Thanks Tilly, I'll have to remember this for when our mutt gets old and creaky.

....Thanks, to marval and Yont, too. I wonder why this medicine works so well on dogs? Is there a human equivalent which does the same job for us?
Question Author
Jordy, it can cause side effects and regular blood tests have to be done to check the liver and kidneys. I think it's best to go to the vets.

I paid £23.00 for the 32ml bottle but as she's insured, I can claim for it and subsequent bottles.
Does it work on creaky ex-policemen?
WD40 is pretty good, shoota.

You could give it a try, shoots. Let us know when you get back from France.
Lol Tony, I'd need a whacking great can....
Tilly my old collie (sent to the big kennel in the sky at eighteen and a half) was also on metacam in her later years - because I knew her so well I used to give her the prescribed dosage for a while then when I felt she didn't need it, I'd knock it off - up to a month/six weeks some times. The metacam worked during the 'flare ups' but I didn't feel she needed it during calm periods so, as I didn't want to dilute the dosage and after consultation with my vet, we agreed it was better to stop the medication completely when I felt she was comfortable. It worked for us anyway and am delighted your woofie is acting like a youngster again.
