Stuey, it bongs whatever the time is on the hour...four bongs for four o'clock, etc...and every quarter of an hour it ding dongs...ding dong for quarter past, ding dong ding dong for half past, etc. It's all inlaid, has copper tops on the four wooden pillars, and brass inlaid in the wood and brass feet. It's maybe eighteen inches high and about a foot wide and deep. The pendulum is brass, and the clock has red silk behind the side brass bits. The winding key is almost as beautiful as the clock. My grandad bought it for my grandma and I'm convinced it has a soul...
That's really interesting about Morath Brothers and ties in with what little I know about it.
