The 4-2 game you refer to was in 2012. He has aged six years since then and is approaching 37 years old. It's a bit like asking why wasn't John Terry or Steven Gerrard playing for England or why wasn't jermaine Defoe playing instead of Sterling

Same thing...France totally outplaying Portugal in the 2016 final...Ronaldo gets injured and starts crying. He is stretchered off (awwww) Portugal then start to play as an actual team and go on to win... Ronaldo-less
