Football Supporters are like primitive tribes. Many Everton supporters object vehemently to an ex-Liverpool manager (Rafael Benitez) being appointed to their club.

There have been other examples, for example Harry Redknapp appointed to Southampton after Portsmouth (and then back again). There was also a Norwich/Ipswich one who's name escapes me at the moment.

How shallow to object to such appointments.

Nothing at all new, loyalty and tribalism cross the lines regularly and have long done so.
It's a weird world on Merseyside, Dave would not have even met me if I had been an Everton Supporter, or Man Utd. They hate them even more. It really is a massive thing almost a religion, no it is a religion, it has two temples, holy relics, sacred robes and high priests aka 2 manager. It really is the first thing a bloke is asked when he introduces a new girlfriend. Is she red or blue?
