As with many a long-standing tv presenter, Gary does come across as a tad smug. But then so do folk like Eamonn Holmes, Jeremy Clarkson, Jeremy Kyle and many others.
The word 'marmite' springs to mind.
I couldn't give a flying flip about who presents the football programme, but I'm glad GL won't be still taking the million pounds per year that he currently gets.
While they're at it they could get rid of Zoe Ball, who gets similar money for doing not very much at all, not very well. But I'm going a bit off topic here.
I don't watch MOTD anymore but would meanly like to see him take a fall. I agree with JTH's description. I have very negative thoughts towards him becausee he was once an idol of mine that fell so far from grace. When he played for Everton, captained England, seemed a devoted husband to Michelle, devoted father, dealt with a son with leukaemeia and was actually gorgeous looking 'to boot' I though he was the perfect man.
He's shattered all my illusions bit by bit, including with his marriages. If he wants to spout politics do it on his own ground, not using his BBC Sports platform to do it.
