All Saints

i recently bought a dress in a concession the sizing was wrong so i took it back no probs. then today i bought the dress again in the right size in a different colour in a free standing store, i then seen another one i liked better in french connection so attempted to take the all saints one back.
i was told they don't do refunds only exchanges and credit notes
i want neither and i find it difficult to believe that in 2007 with a chain store i cannot get a refund with a receipt and it was on the day of purchase?
however on the bottom of the receipt it says 'we will only offer refunds in addition to your legal rights' or someting along them lines? what are these legal rights?
anyway to get a refund cos i don't really shop at all saints and could do with the money! :)

The shop is not obliged to refund you just because you changed your mind or found another item cheaper elsewhere.
Online sales allow refunds as you don't get the opportunity to try the garment on before you buy it (whereas in a shop you do) and they will need to refund for people who have bought the wrong size or find that the fit or quality is not as expected. They are basically giving you the goods 'on approval' and you usually get 14 days to send them back.
I do agree that in this day and age it is rare to find anyone who won't give a refund but the shop is perfectly within its rights to refuse you.

I work for a company who also only offer an exchange or gift vouchers - the law states that a refund does not have to be given unless the product is faulty or faulsly advertised. But we do refund if bought in error and bought back the same day. I would contact their head office its amazing how much of a difference it will make. The company should stick to the same rules but at the same time it might be 'common sense' policy on there part and one shop cares more about giving refunds than the other lol. Seriously give the H/O a ring - might be worth not mentioning the first refund though, thats the whole reason for not giving them really.
