Two Tier Premier League In England?

I've heard that the Bolton chairman, Phil Gartside, has made some proposal to this effect, and that he would like to see Scotland's Old Firm, Celtic and Rangers, invited to join the second tier initially. Anyone aware of this?

Is this a viable suggestion and one that could be brought to fruition? And bearing in mind that there are already Welsh teams which play in English leagues, would it make much difference to invite two of the biggest names in world football to join, thereby perhaps enhancing and enriching the game in England?

I'm fully expecting to be reminded of the rioting by Rangers fans in Manchester last year at the UEFA Cup final.
But do try to be sensible and constructive.

What an INCREDIBLE statement Rollo.

In the last 10 years Scottish teams have hammered English teams Celtic have recently beaten Manchester United 3-2 in the Championsleague, Beaten Liverpool over 2 legs, Beaten Blackburn Rovers, Rangers have beaten Leeds in the Champions League .

Both of the Old Firm have reached the UEFA CUP Finals knocking out some huge teams along the way HUGE teams, Celtic Narrowly lost to FC Porto 3-2 I think? The next season Porto won the Championsleague with that outstanding team yet Celtic almost beat them and crushed Liverpool FC and beat Blackburn over the 2 legs.

How the hell can you say they`re championship standard? They can obviously compete with the cream of England!!!
