Will Liverpool's season fall apart right from the start?

The Premier League fixtures have been announced http://www.guardian.c...ague-fixtures-2010-11 and Liverpool start at home to Arsenal and then away at Man City.

The way things ended last season they'll be lucky to get a point from either. At least the following game, at home against WBA, should guarantee 3 points. But they'll likely to be playing catchup from the start of the season.

Or will having a new manager have the effect of stirring the team into action?

I'm really hoping a new manager will inspire, but it's a tough start. Long way to go yet though, we don't know how strong (or not) a squad they will have come the start of the season.

The trouble is that there are so many poor players that Benitez brought in and they need to be got rid of, but finances will probably mean we're stuck with them.

They have 2 world class players (Gerrard, Torres) but can they hold onto them without Champions League football?

The rest of the squad are average

Liverpool fans need to get used to life chasing 4th place because for the foreseeable future that is the best they can aspire to

It is possible to support a team but, at the same time, remain realistic about their chances and, frankly, Liverpool need quite a turnaround from last season's pitiful displays.

Never been in a football fight in my life, but it is a fact that loads of people latch on to a club known to be successful as opposed, say, to their more modest local team(s), hence the "glory hunter".

Besides, how many Liverpool (or Everton?) fans are Scousers, and how many non Mancunians claim allegiance to you know who? Etc, etc.
