Stupid iPhone

My iPhone informed me that I had to plug it into the computer to get all of it's upgrades. I have done this and it still hasn't finished the first one (which it started about 40 minutes ago). Given that it has 31 upgrades to do I can't see it finishing any time soon. Any one got any ideas about what is wrong with the stupid thing?

USB mobile software is notoriously slow. Mini USB and firmware of phone is usually a problem.
I think better to save to PC and clear out all media files and stored stuff to make room for temp files it downloads.

As there aren't that many op system upgrades theses are app upgrades. If you just plug it in once a week you will keep it up to date without this hassle. There is nothing wrong with it, it's trying to keep you up to date with the latest upgrades and bug fixes

I know he is .. But always better to save the data out and empty folders first. This used to be problem with V3.

Thanks to everyone for their help - it is now working beautifully and the picture quality even seems better (or my husband might have cleaned the screen for me!).
