Liverpool FC and Roy Hodgson
It is so frustrating being a LFC supporter!
Last night is the clearest indicator (if you still needed one) that something is fundamentally wrong with the set-up of the team.
Roy said "Judge me after 10 games", well I didnt Roy, but I AM going to judge you after 18. The only saving grace this team had this season was their home form and last night we were beaten at Anfield by the team with the worst away form of any team in the league! Now 3 points above the drop zone and the wins against Villa, West Ham and notably Chelsea a distant memory - things have to change....
Where was the width? Why the hell were we playing so deep and not pushing Wolves on our home turf? Players looked out of position and out of their depth against the team at the bottom of the league. If this continues and the teams around us in the table hit a good streak in the new year, we are looking at a relegation battle, no joke!!
And if LFC fans are expecting big money buys in January, think again. I can only hope that they buy sensibly. We need wingers, we need proven goalscorers and in reality so much more, but that would be a start.
Changing a team takes time, but at this stage, the manager needs to give us a clue where he is taking the team. I find that Roy does a lot of talking but tells us nothing. There is so much expectation of the Liverpool team due to the history of the club, the records will show this to be a dark period in the clubs history unless big changes happen, now!

However, for some reason they have never been able to make the correct choice of manager since Dalglish's departure in the 90's.
I hated Souness, though perhaps Evans could have been given more support, Houllier, not great and don't get me started on Benitez. I think the calling for Kenny back now is just romanticism and would be another mistake as he's out of the game too long.
If I was a praying man I would have prayed for Martin O'Neill to come in after Benitez but for some reason Hodgson got it, probably only because he brought Fulham to the final of a second tier cup final, woo hoo, they dind't even win. O'Neill has done wonders when he's been at clubs and I thought he showed a high set of morals at Villa by walking away when he had no support(and look at them now).

There aren't enough quality Scots and Welsh around any more!
The money that was wasted by Benitez on too many average players - then these players were overlooked by him ! - Keane and Crouch are decent players but were discarded by him - too many players became unsettled under him , and now Torres looks like he wants to be somewhere else

Yes, we did win. But it was a hollow victory for me, we didnt play well 1st half, kind of got it together 2nd half. Most important thing is the 3 points, however, the corcerns that I raised at the start of the post are still evident. Players looked lost and de-motivated. Reina, Gerrard and Torres made an impact when it mattered, everyone else in plain average at the moment.
Might be signing Ryan Shawcross and Ashley Young this week. That is the strongest rumor circulating around here, still think more is needed though - but on paper these could be sensible buys. I wouldnt expect big european signings, it aint going to happen

Yeah heard that one too whitebears.
Truth is you wont know until it is all confirmed, the speculation will keep going until the end of the transfer window!
I dont see Carlton Cole as a solution up front, he is big and strong but lacks the qualtiy finish and I dont think him and Torres would suit. I really dont rate him. Shaun-Wright Phillips, again why are we looking at people like that to turn the season around? Yeah would have him in the squad but not a regular starter.
Would love to see Fernando Llorente signed and perhaps the Japanese lad Honda, Ashley Young for some pace and width and Ronaldhinio for a bit of flare and imagination (Milan will let him go for 8 million euro), the german Mertersacker, solid at the back. But thats just my wish list from the rumours that I have heard!
Roy is at the Wigan Newcastle match, I think checking up on N'zogbia and Rodallega

micmak - I will give you that one!
All fans have high expectations of their club but LFC fans are ruthless - in a recent poll on some LFC forum, 95% want Roy out immediately. I say, see what he manages to buy and then give him 6 matches after the end of the tranfer window. I think ample opportunity will have been given then. A new manager now could unsettle what Roy has been trying to implement.
We need to set a 2 or 3 year plan in motion now and stop pretending we can get in to the top 4. Make sensible investments and build the team and have a stab at the league in a couple of years. It wont happen any faster!! As far as silver wear, we should win the Europa league, City are the team to perhaps avoid as long as possible, but I think for some reason on the European stage we will take them
