Over at Liverpool as soon as the Home Side came out of the Anfield tunnel in there red shirts loud applause greeted them.
The Kop was a sea of red and white scarves.
They won the match, but the Liverpool fans were not happy with the result.

Everton used to play at Anfield
Is there another local team who also wear red, and have named their ground after Liverpool's ?
Everton did not play at Anfield as they were then known as St Domingo and became Everton when they moved to Goodison Park.
did Wales play England there as the home side?
There is a Scottish side that plays at Anfield
Its got to be an international, Euro 96? Or some friendly game?

I thought Liverpool were formed after Everton left Anfield

Anfield is a football stadium in the district of Anfield, in Liverpool, England. Built in 1884, the stadium has been home to Liverpool F.C. since they were formed in 1892 as a result of the original tenants Everton F.C. leaving the ground.
Stirling Albions old Ground was called Annfield but they now play at a new Stadium.

was it a cup tie played at Anfield but Liverpool were the away team? The way the fa cup semi used to be played at Villa Park?
