As in other team sports, squad numbers are used in association football to identify and distinguish players on the field. Numbers were originally used to also indicate position, with starting players being assigned numbers 1-11, but most competitions and leagues now use squad numbers.

Wait for JJ to explain its much more sensible in netball where players positions are on the backs of their shirts eg GD (goal defence) C centre if I remember rightly etc
Yeah; but they can't move out of their box, so it sort of fits.
Those numbers are the players IQ.
Or how many thousands a week they earn. I wouldn't mind an IQ like that if I earned their money.
