bit of a quandary here
We have just learned that Thomas Cook cabin crew are set to take industrial action and our airport is one of those that will be affected, the remainder of our accommodation has to be paid by 11th November, we got the flight separate from the accommodation, we would get our air fare back but not the
accommodation, we are due to fly on the 23rd December, don't know what is the best course of action to take here

the travel insurance probably will but as Bill is 70 now, he isn't covered with our Bank which is who we have it through, I was taking out an ins. for him at the beginning of December

I know it won't help you at all this time, but in future when booking a holiday make sure you take out travel insurance immediately. I work in a Post Office and our travel insurance (which you can just buy over the counter for anyone up to the age of 74, over that age you need to ring up) is valid immediately. It covers all sorts of things that may occur before you go on holiday, for example falling ill with something that you didn't have before you took the insurance out, or a close family member falling ill. If you work it covers you if a colleague falls ill and you can't take your holiday because you need to cover for them. It also covers you from the minute you leave home until the minute you get back again, so not just whilst you're abroad. This travel insurance has won an award for best travel insurance for a few years running now.
Sorry I can't help with this particular dilemma, but I hope it all works out for you.

thanks for the post spudq, I have a annual travel insurance, it is my OHs that I will need to renew as he's now 70 and HSBC don't offer the same travel insurance for him now as they did, and like maidup said, I don't think I could cancel my flight and expect a refund, I need to go through and check if TC would actually pay out through Industrial action? This happened to us a couple of years ago where we lost a considerable amount of money
