Good Morning Early Birds!

Saturday. An early start today. The routine has changed, I'm doing the heritage centre today instead of tomorrow. I'm going down early to fill the boats diesel tank up before the charter. The people doing the heritage centre have had to drop out and I'm the only one with experience available. Can't leave it to two new people, it wouldn't be fair on them, so, one of them will be crew on the boat under an experienced skipper and I'll be teaching the other new volunteer what goes on running the centre...if that makes sense.
When the Boaty came in.
High cloud making the moon look orange. rather strange, almost ethereal. The pair of foxes were not in their usual place, but I was early, I went out just before three. The badgers were returning home in ones and twos, the deer on the hillside grazing away happily, the small roe deer were down in the field again, they were unaware that I was there. I watched them for about ten minutes before they noticed me, they trotted off then, not in a hurry, but they are not used to me, it's only the second time I've seen them. The bigger deer don't come down al all. No dawn chorus, so I guess the spadger catcher was about, but I didn't see it.
No sign of any traps anywhere. The message was obviously taken seriously. A couple of small furry beasties were having what seemed like a domestic squabble, totally unaware of my presence. It was funny watching them, nothing physical, just yelling at each other just like an ill matched married couple. Maybe they were. I had a look where the crow parliament had taken place, some feathers were all that was there. I guess a fox or something did the tidying up. Nearly back home I saw a pair of hawks dancing in the air. That explains the silence of the birds. I watched them for about 20 minutes, such beautiful graceful killing machines, but they were not hunting, they were enjoying the early morning quiet, just like me really.
I'm sat down with the first coffee of the day now, happy with what I've seen this morning. I'll be thinking of those two hawks all day.
Have a happy day everyone.

I don't sleep a lot. but I rest while reading. That recharges the batteries almost as well as sleeping. It's been like that since Vera had the cancer the first time. Me waking about every twenty minutes to make sure she was OK, It just keeps on that way. I don't mind. That's the secret! :o}
