York Festival 2018

Typical York cavalry charge to start the meet. Will be giving that a miss along with the Juddmonte Stakes. My old favourite Poet's Word runs in it and although I fancy it the price does not fit my idea of value. It has the heart of a lion and if I had to pick a "danger" it would be the aptly named Roaring Lion. With that in mind I have gone for a realistic e/w punt with minimum stakes.

Doing some decorating for our Asian cousins and they've very kindly organised their 2nd Eid of the year to coincide with the opening day of the York meeting, so not grafting today :-) Done a little trixie/treble on Persian Moon, Cross Counter and Roaring Lion which could earn me £118, and also this L15 and e.w. acca;
1.55 York; Boom The Groom @ 10/1
4.15 York; Northwest Frontier @ 15/2
4.25 Car; Foxtrot Knight @ 13/2
4.50 York; Eljayeff @ 7/1
20p L15, £1 e.w. acca. 4 placed = approx £50, 4 winners = £7,402
Also couple of placepots; York; 18-3-3-6-12-10 & Car; 4-1-1-6-13-4
Good luck

Good enough Ken. I had to go out after watching the first, and didn't get back until the last had run, so did not do the cover single . Never mind. I have had a quick squint at tomorrow's runners and will sleep on a favourites treble and a long shot e/w punt in the other three. Check the prices and runners tomorrow.
And, as i'm back at work tomorrow, i've just placed my bet and will have to keep my fingers crossed that they all run.
2.25 York; Kodyanna @ 7/1
3.00 York; Original Choice @ 9/1
4.00 Che; Who Told Jo Jo @ 8/1
4.50 York; Starlight Romance @ 11/1
The usual 20p L15 and £1 e.w. acca. 4 placed = £55, 4 winners = £11,269 :-) :-)
Good luck, all

Sorted. Not much different to my thinking last night. Done the Jackpot which rolled over with a win treble on the short odds and e/w doubles and an e/w treble on the other 3.
*Angel's Hideaway @2/1 1.55
Kodyanna @6/1 2.25
Poet's Society @22/1 3.00
*Sea Of Class @5/4 3.35
*Lah Ti Dar @Evens 4.15
Preening @13/2 4.50
*** £2.00 Win Treble. The others 3 X 50p E/W Doubles. 50p E/W Treble. and the Jackpot as stated. Total stake £7.00. Possible £850 plus Jackpot tote return. Can do a cover if it goes pear shaped.

Close again but no cigar. 3 winners but only £9.00 back for an e/w double. I did however have a couple of quid on my old mate Poet's Socirty @22/1 for a nice £46 payout. Getting closer will have the beggars tomorrow. What the hell happened to Angel's Hideaway? The only real disappointment of my choices.
Togo, i was just about to post the following; Togo, please tell me you had a win or e.w. single on Poets Society. :-) Don't need to now and i thought you may have done something with it. Percy Verence wins again, well in mate. My lot are still running :-/ Still, might win a few quid if the Clarets can get some sort of favourable result tonight. Tough ask.
Haha Ken....thing is I nearly missed it. My son called up and he was on the desktop on a guest account. I suddenly realised that I needed to get on after the first had bombed and the second had got into the enhanced place. I had to fire up the laptop and log in etc pdq. Made it as they were just about loaded, (watching on the TV) and got my £2 win placed. I was going to put it with the last 3 runners as well but had no time or I would have hit a treble. My fault for taking my eye off the ball talking and having bants with the son. He thought I was having a fit as it got home. Good on ya Frankie.
In a word, No! You can, however, rely on us to honestly believe that our selections stand some sort of a chance and know that we are putting our money where our mouths are, Canary. Not like those tipsters in the papers. You'd be just as well picking names rather than follow tipsters - either we amateurs on here or those so called 'experts' in the media.

Canary in all honesty we only have a punt for fun. As the bets are placed we wave our cash goodbye. However when we get a winner or two the joy is better than a couple of numbers on the lottery. I am ahead this week and regardless of the few quid back have had great enjoyment just having a go. I only, and I know I speak for all who do have a go and sometimes get involved in our threads, place on amounts I can lose without in any way affecting my life in general. I probably spend more on my fishing hobby.
