I didn't even realise we'd had one, until I went into the kitchen and saw the oven timers flashing. I was sitting reading in the sitting room and was totally unaware that the power had gone off.

No problem here Tills. Are you sure that you had a power cut? Or was that the oven "warning" light. (^_*)

P.S. Are you still line dancing? I have a tune for you if you are.

I am, Togo. Every Monday lunchtime.
I didn't get affected but know quite a few who did , the travel chaos was bad for lots too.
When was this?

No problems here, but they did say on todays TV News that "certain areas" had their power cut off to enable them to supply vital services.
Here you go then Tills. I can see you now dressed like Doris Day in Calamity Jane. (^_*)

Friday late afternoon.
Missed that then

Were you...God!

Yesterday, 237. A million people were affected in some way, apparently.

East Anglia wasn't mentioned on the BBC News website as one of the areas affected by the power cuts, so it's probably unsurprising that the power stayed on in my house. However Ipswich Hospital (not far from here) lost all power for a short while, with their back-up generator failing to kick in as it should have done.
I read about the National Grid problem (was not in the UK at the time) but thought maybe something else was going on since

Thanks, Togo. I'll have a listen tomorrow.

The only resemblance I have to Doris is a pair of cowboy boots.

Time to climb the hills to Bedfordshire. Goodnight all.
Night Tills.
Nope, not even vaguely.
We were not affected here in Milton Keynes.
Neither were we in the West Mids.
Nothing to do with power cuts but many people were affected in Morningside, Bearsden and High Blantyre.
Well I was on a visit to Warwickshire, and we were without power.
