Should you hear an almighty roar at around 1.30 tomorrow afternoon, you will know that the Festival has begun. I have no doubt there will be some exciting races ahead but my enthusiasm is slightly tempered by the scarcity of handicap races - my fav source of interest. There are just 2 on Tue, Wed and Fri with 3 on Thurs, so i may have Lucky 15/e.w. acca bets running over 2 days?
If you intend to have a punt at the Festival, the very best of luck to you:-)
Originally intended to have a bit of e.w. on Bardenstown Lad early today but it was initially backed into 12/1, so i put it in the forecast with Shantreusse. However, when i saw it had drifted out to 22s, i had a little e.w. bet on it. Nothing to write home about, obvs, but every little helps :-)
Thirtyfourstictches fell 2 out (but looked about to be headed when it did) but t'other 2 won in the Trixie bet for £11.75 back.
Last race of the Festival coming up and i've done a rev f/c Hollow Games and Chemical Energy and a bit of e.w. on I A Connect @ 25/1. All 3 trained by Elliott - Mullins has won enough:-/
Well, that's it for another year and, despite only having had 3 or 4 winners over the 4 days, i find myself ever so slightly ahead of the bookies - thanks mainly due to the 2 forecasts i had and the generosity of Sky with their extra places.
On the whole, the stats held up quite well and many of the week's winners were on my shortlists. Can't back them all, though.
Once again the Irish return home with all our silver (18-10) - must be the guinness they add to the horse feed:-)))
A strange one for me this year Ken. Had to focus on "other things" that turned out to be wasted effort , but still enjoyed what I did get to see. Good to see different ABers post on the thread, but we always knew that more look in than contribute. Good to see Spike is still in touch, so more good than bad. I have a sunburned right cheek(face) after sitting in the sunshine at Conwy Marina this afternoon. Had a laugh and a pint with some of the blokes that I made friends with in the early 70s. They are dafter than I am, and it was a treat to see them looking out for each other still. I will get myself ready for next year if providence allows and have "em".
Anyone know a Jordan Reynolds - sole winner of the £500,000 jackpot ITV7 from 12 entrants who all had named the 7 winners (thought it said 14 on tv?). Must be gut-wrenching to have been one of the other 11 punters:-(((((
