The wait is almost over for punters, like me, who really look forward to the Festival and 4 days of top-class racing.
Betting firms will be battling each other to give us punters the best 'offers' and, as and when i discover them, i'll post them on this thread. Hopefully, some of you will do the same.
Apart from the one i mentioned on the 'Saturday Punt' thread*, the only ones i have to hand at the moment are from SkyBet;

They are offering to refund all stakes if your horse is beaten in the FIRST race of the day (applies to all 4 days) your stake will be refunded in cash. There will, of course, be number of runner and maximum stakes rules, but that will be decided on the day.

SkyBet have also kindly forewarned punters in which races, for the first 2 days, they are offering extra places. They are as follows;

Tues; 2.50; 8/instead of 4, 4.10; 4/3, 4.50; 4/3
Wed; 2.10; 4/3, 2.50; 8/4, 4.10; 4/3, 4.50; 6/4, 5.30; 5/4

I was wise to err on the side of caution with Shishkin.

The 2 e.w. returns softened the blow of having no winners at Cheltenham. I did have a nice double in a Patent at Hexham (Kildrum and Prince Dundee) but i'm judging myself on my Festival performance, this week.

In today's first race we have the farcical scenario in which one trainer (who else but Mullins) is responsible for almost half of the 15 runners. He will most likely saddle the first 3 home and, were it not for Sky's 'cash back if beaten' offer, i wouldn't be bothering.

As it is, i have a grand-daughter by the name of Destiny, so my fiver is on Blood destiny @ 5/2.
We’re off to Fakenham today for racing and Cheltenham via the big screen.

Wishing you a great day and success on all your bets.

Just done a couple of outsiders at Fakenham, Maydup; No No Tonic (3.45) and Sir Jack Yeats (5.00) (There's 2 for you to steer clear of :-/) - with Luckie Seven 5.15 Donny in a R Robin and e.w. treble.

Hope you have a great day whether you win, lose or draw.
Blimey more runners than at Balaclava. This is a day to look for place money for the small stakes punters like myself. I have looked for horses that have done the distance, may have a bit of improvement in them, or that look like they have been tucked away for today. Still nigh on impossible but not entirely so. Permutations and accas are done till my head is buzzing. Haha. On early as I am out for a bit of lunch and a pint after a walk. Done the ITV7# and 5p E/W Accas down to 4 timers on them. Done the Chelt. Tote Jackpot~ and the Place6~. Small e/w singles done on the Chelt picks. **** E/W 4Timer, Trebles & doubles. If the punt has gone the usual shape early on I can cover the remaining picks with more scattergun perms. I know that Ken gets that. Good luck everyone.

Jupiter Du Gite @50/1 1.30*~#
Pied Piper @14/1 2.10*~#
Embassy Gardens @10/1 2.50*~#
Protektorat @20/1 3.30*~#
Famous Claremont @7/1 4.10~#
Pink Legend @50/1 4.50~

With the top 5 of those Two for the Road @14/1 2.30Dr# and Dartan @14/1 3.10Dr# completes the ITV7.
Have a nice afternoon Maydup. Hope the rain stays away for you, although it doesn't rain in the bar. :)) Just noticed that Dartan has been withdrawn from my ITV7 bets. I am leaving it as is. Too much faff to change the Accas and they put me on the fav in the ITV7 itself. It must be an omen (^_*)
Question Author
2.10; Pied Piper @ 16/1 - 8 places
2.50; Favori De Champdou @ 10/1 - 6 places
4.10; Famous Clermont @ 13/2 - 4 places
5.30; Imagine @ 13/2 - 5 places

Win/e.w. singles, 20p L15, £1 e.w. acca (with 365) ditto with Sky. 4 placed = £119 in total, 4 winners = £21,239.

ITV7, above qualifiers, plus; Blood Destiny, Braveman'sgame and Impervious. £1 e.w. acca that will break Sky's bank :-))

2 x £2.50 e.w. free bets;

2.50; Rock My Way @ 33/1 - 6 places
5.30; Mark Of Gold @ 25/1 - 6 places

£1 e.w. Dandy Dan @ 28/1 - 4.10 - 4 places (obvious reason)

Drawn Conflated in the Sweepstake so i've had £1 e.w. on that @ 14s

£5 win on Braveman'sgame @ 13/2

Placepot; 4-2-6-3-9-3

And the very best of luck to punters everywhere, but especially those in this house:-)

I drew Ahoy Senor Ken, which I had considered when picking my futile attempt. Done a quid e/w.........cos you have too. Off out see ya later.
Hi all. I've done 50p e/w on all 7 races at Cheltenham. I've chosen
1.30 Rightsotom 150/1
2.10 Pinkerton 25/1
2.50 Chianti Classico 66/1
3.30 Hewick 40/1
4.10 Go Go Geronimo 28/1
4.50 Dolcita 50/1
5.30 Impulsive One 80/1

Good luck everyone.

Have you done them with Sky, Carrott?

Best of luck whoever you've done them with.:-)
I don't watch a lot of racing but am amazed at how good Richard Hoiles is when commentating. Race after race he reels off the names of the horses and jockeys with no hesitation or mistakes - especially impressive when there are over 20 horses in the race, and sometimes poor visibility. A real pro.
Fabulous win for Stage Star, one of the Owners Group horses although sadly not one of mine. Wonderful way to be involved in racehorse ownership for about fifty quid. Regular email updates, monthly colour magazine and stable visits plus the chance of owners badges when your horse runs. Then you feel involved when any one of their horses runs.
No Ken, I've only got a Bet365 account. After spending today's £7 I've got £38 in the account. As my winnings are always small I just leave them in for future bets. I've had the account years since Stokemaveric used to give us tips.

I only asked, Carrott, 'cos Sky offer extra places - quite useful at Cheltenham - although to a slightly lower price. Got paid out on one that finished 7th yesterday ;-)
Question Author
Lankee, if i had my own transport, i would involve myself in one of the northern based syndicates.
I do have a bus pass which i could use, but their timetables don't always correspond with the beginning and end of the racing day:-(

Someone should have a word :-)))
Question Author
Well, that was fun :-) By my reckoning i am slightly up on the four days - nothing to write home about and if i was being paid for the research i have done out of my profit, i'd be nowhere near the minimum wage.

There's always next year - providing old Vladimir hasn't nuked us all:-(
Well done Ken for being up on the week! I havent had a winner but I have enjoyed it especially using up the free bets each morning.

Fakenham was good fun. Wet for the first few races, which kept some people away so not as crowded as usual for this meeting, but it dried out in the end.
Question Author
Pleased you had a good day, Maydup. I always love going to the track, whether i win or lose. I love the characters you meet and the atmosphere. And i love walking up and down the lines of bookies, looking for one who'll give me a slightly better price than his neighbours. All part and parcel of 'A Day At The Races' :-))
Absolutely Ken.

Standing behind the old lady who has £1 each way with the bookie itching to get my bet on, £5 on number 7 at Cheltenham please before they change those odds! Good luck love. The guy behind me had £80 on the same horse as me - maybe I’ve picked the right one this time!

Getting in amongst the crowd who are shouting the Fakenham winner home. It might not be my horse but I love to hear them yelling. Come on Tommy, come on Tommy, come on MY SON!

Good times. It’s a country course, everyone’s dressed for the weather and friendly.
