Aussies hate losing
8 Answers
It's extraordinary how few seats are filled at the Ashes tests so far. I guess the Aussies can't bear seeing their side being thrashed by the English. This doesn't happen the other way round though, does it? During the many ashes series here when we've takenm a pasting, our grounds are still packed.

It sort of depends... Adelaide has a population of 1.3 million, say a fifth the size of London, and other cities aren't in easy reach (also unlike London), so you wouldn't necessarily expect the place to be full to the rafters - especially the last couple of days, which are working days. I think they said this morning the attendance was 120,000 (over the whole test), which seems quite a few.
Australian grounds are bigger, too. Adelaide Oval 40,000; Lord's 30,000.
