Help Plymouth Argyle - NOISE! - Green Army

So Plymouth are in danger of liquidation.

Which is horrid.

The Brighton "word on the street" is that we are going to buy every empty seat at their stadium, go down to their stadium in our thousands, totally pack them out and, for one day, make it the LOUDEST, fullest, stadium in the country.

We are going to take rattles, horns, vuvuzelas, whistles ... anything that is legally allowed in the ground.

It will be LOUD, LOUD LOUD ... !!!

The date ... Saturday 24th September (because The Seagulls don't have a game that day).

I'm tempted to go (even though I've not been to any matches this season), because it's going to be A TOTAL BLAST !!!

And maybe, in the process, we might make a small contribution to helping save Plymouth.

How jolly is that !

It will be like a tsoonami (s) of support for Plymouth.

Well, several years ago, before I ever followed Brighton, we had troubles of our own ... something to do with our old Goldstone Ground.

And ... thousands of Plymouth fans came and supported us.

So now, years later ... we are going to return the favour.

Jayne - I am e-mailing BBC Spotlight who have been giving significant coverage to the Plymouth story already. Credit where credit is due as the gesture of Brighton would be seen as a wonderful "feel good" story, not only for the Plymouth fans, but in the League and a huge testimony to the positive values of your Club, and lower League Clubs generally, (though the 'Gulls are not there now!).

a copy of my e-mail to BBC Spotlight has just gone to the Lord Mayor of Plymouth suggesting an appropriate reception to honour your support.

Could you contact the 'Gulls PR by copying this thread of yours into them that these contacts have been made this end - squaring of the circle or something like that, Jayne....

I didn't know about this Leeds thing. Apparently, when Leeds come to play Brighton on 23rd September, all the Brighton supporters are going to wear Green and White, to try to draw attention to Plymouth's problems.

This inter-club support does happen. Wasn't there something last season in the North West, where some big club played at the ground of some little club to help them raise money? (sorry- bit sketchy on the details).

A pilgrimage down here would be enormously supported, whatever the date. never mind the action in front of Leeds.....

(And I am not even a Pilgrims supporter - my first ever match was the 'Pool vs Everton when I lived in the NW - the guy who took us was a Toffee so I just had back the Reds as an obnoxious 12 year old. People will say 'what has changed?' - but this is a good feel story if the Gulls were to (i) 'protest' (ii) come down to Argyle and actually support them - not sure how many the ground holds but it looks like 15,000 to 20,000 at max capacity....

Well, I hope the Gulls fans put up a good show because, from what I've read, it looks like the Plymouth fans stood up for us when we needed it.

I do like teams with jolly supporters!

Turn left as soon as you get to the coast.

If you're young enough to ride off road ... you're too young to spend any time in Hove.
