Morning all, well I'm still saying never again!!
Thanks for all the support and congratulations, it means a lot!
It was certainly an incredible experience, massive emotional ups and downs as well as physical. I didn't run well so I didn't enjoy it as much as I'd hoped and I never want to see Sefton Park again!! But the last 4 miles were great, I just found the zone, over took a fair few and, even though for the last 2 miles my calves were cramping up every hundred or so yards I just went through it and the finish was amazing! 4 hrs 55 and I beat my two mates so could have been worse!
My lass and my family were right by the finish line so it was fantastic to see them there, they said so many people were bursting into tears at the sight of it, one woman needed carrying across the line and a few hundred men forgot the vaseline!
One of the best feelings though was the spirit it brought out in the spectators, everyone giving so much support, strangers handing out sweets for energy, everyone trying to drag each other along, it's the way people should be all the time!
So that's my story of the day, an amazingly intense rollercoaster or agony and ecstasy!

Well done Paul. Although you say never again, I bet you'll be out and training very soon. It is so addictive. Thanks for sharing this with us.
congrats paul

cheers Dido, and to be honest I'm already feeling twinges of doubt as to whether I will again, partly because I know I can do better and I'm a stubborn get with things like that! I'm going to keep my fitness levels up anyway and maybe do the half Marathon in March with my Grandad.
You are our hero !

Well well well done, you fab chappy.

haha, cheers JJ, and thanks very much for the sponsor! :)
Re: the vaseline, basically bleeding nipples a plenty! It rained for quite a bit of it so would have been even worse! Ouch!!!

Dido - very much like Steptoe Senior! I do wish Harold's daughter was here to make me a brew and give me a little back rub!

thanks very much all!
We are all very proud of you and so glad to read that wonderful description of the day, well done Paul ((HUG))
Well done... wouldn't want to be the first aider dealing with the unlubricated chappy injuries
I didn't know Harold had a daughter?!
de nada.

Oh, I see ... nipples.

I was thinking ... the "other end". If I go on a long run, I use a bit of nappy cream.
Well done Paul, even though i did think initially that your post was titled Movies Like Steptoe.

I'm just thinking Kate Beckinsale Dido!

There's loads I could go on about, my Grandad's dying to come round to talk about it all, he wants to get a photo of my auntie, my bro and me in our t-shirts and medals (we were a bit too drained to pose on Sunday!), he was really proud of us all so that was great!
Brilliant!
its ok JJ I thought the same... chafed sphericals
Really well done, Paul! Good to see the ubiquitous 'rollercoaster' making an appearance in your day - lol :-)
