The "Advantage" Rule Discussion
24 Answers
Just opening up a discussion here, and trying to get this clear in my head.
I saw a bit of Match Of The Day last night, cos it came on after Louis Theroux.
There were a few times when the referee played "advantage".
How does the advantage rule work in football?

He may caution the offender at the first opportunity after the offence.
If it was a serious Foul then there would have been a Freekick and Yellow/Red Card !

"What if the referee plays "advantage", but then the attacker loses the ball, and the other team counter attack, and score ?"
If within a very short space of time after giving the advantage the play breaks down I have seen the ref then award the free-kick for the initial foul. Not sure whether this is a firm rule or referee discretion.
