Thought Clarke was a shoe-in all along, more from the sentimental vote more than anything else.
My prediction was:
1. Clarke
2. Cavendish
3. Cook
For once it actually was difficult to choose amongst them as there have been some fantastic achievements by British sportsmen and women this year but congratulations to Cav, brilliant year for him and his GB team mates in what is an endurance sport like no other.
As a cyclist and a massive pro cycling fan this is awesome for the sport. The trackies and Nicole Cook gave things a major shot in the arm afetr Beijing, Sir Chris Hoy's SPOTY that year added to it, this brilliant! Awesome Cav, Congrats!
Thorughly deserved, thanks to the demographic bias of the vote towards a minority sport. Clarke was a more deserved winner, in my opinion, as he won a major. England may have been ranked no 1 at cricket, but they have yet to win a major tournament, ie the World Cup.
