Lower gum sheilds

is there a difference between upper and lower gum sheilds I have looked on a number of web sites and and there doesn't appear a difference.
My Son has been told he needs a gum sheild for his lower teeth as well as his upper teeth due to the breaking if the wire on his fixed brace.

I did read the anser but it does not answer my question as i need to about wearing both upper and lower gum sheilds and know if there are specific ones for each?
