However it is the players safety.
I am amazed at the commentary team not knowing the history of the Stade, esp Serge Blanco
The ground was built on an old Gaz de France site - after the 1st couple of games and the first few years, the pitch had to be dug up over and over again as the ground was so polluted and the grass was turning yellow.
It could not take an undersoil heating system as there was a risk of the hydrocarbons in there going bang!
(I was there for the very first match of any sport, France England football and then a few days later for the rugby. Much preferred the old Parc des Princes as the bars were so much closer, i.e. right outside the Parc.
