Fish hooks

Haven't been fishing for a very long time. What are the rules now? I know you can't use lead weights - is that only in fresh water?

And what about hooks? Do I remember that they must now be barbless? I see that you can still buy barbed, but nowhere near as many as barbless.

Most commercial fisheries now specify barbless hooks but outside of those its please yourself.
There are regulations on the mesh type in your nets now though as far as I am aware.
