banning baseball caps??? What on earth for??? I mean if they're playing baseball in the middle of the mall I could see there might be a problem, but do they want everyone to wear top hats and knee breeches or what?

So the cctv cameras can see your face, jno.
I figured that was the argument against hoodies, but baseball caps don't hide nearly as much, do they? Not only that, they tend to have identifying marks all over them. To be really sure, though, the malls should ban all clothing. I look forward to the first naturist mall; at least nervous shopkeepers wouldn't have to ask Mae West's question about whether it's a gun or...
Banning Baseball caps is like banning idiots, understandable but not fair.
I hope not I just brought a Burberry one and Im not a hoodie!
Tanyavee not a burberry one please. Have you missed out on all the threads about burberry......only joking mind you.
I reckon the idea behind this is that the security guards at the entrance will be given the power to request that hoods be lowered and baseball caps be taken off. Now a young toddler with his mum and dad will not be the problem. A bunch of lads will be told to keep their hoods down and caps off. The security personnel will then liase with each other to ensure that the lads are complying or else they can be evicted. This is how it will work in a sensible world and this is why i think this is Ok.
Gosh I'm 60 and I wear hoodies - am I now liable to shoplift - is this what causes it???

NETI What about my mum she wears a teacosy on her head .
CCTV cameras tend to be ceiling-mounted and looking down on the public at a fairly steep angle, so baseball caps do pose a problem. Especially as they cover the face, or at least cast shadow on it.
Most wear their baseball caps back to front anyway.

Good.  Can't stand baseball caps or hoodies!  Should be banned completely from everywhere.   Not a very constructive answer though!

I can seriously see the point for security reasons.

Netty watch out, they may not let you have internet access from that Spanish jail!

FP -   aha - so now I am unmasked.  All those devious and dastardly crimes I have committed and now, just through wearing a sweatshirt hood I am to be found out. Vinny100_2 tell your mother to cast aside her tea cosy they are next to be targetted.

Thank god for that lol.
I think banning caps and hoodys is a very good idea....for securities reasons and also because I find that a group of teens/early 20's hanging around with hoodys on is very intimidating and I think they know it as well and get a kick out of it.

Love the idea about banning the sale of the offending caps within the mall Vinny! :-)

A cafe in my town got in trouble for banning groups of teenagers.  We all knew the sorts of groups they meant, but they got in trouble for banning in such a general manner.  I have one hooded top (from H&M) but I would be MORTIFIED if anyone mistook me for a scally.  For starters I don't buy my jewellery in Elizabeth Duke.  But I guess I wouldn't be allowed to wear the top to Bluewater.  Good job I'm miles away up in Manc then!

I complained to a Manager of Asda that members of 'his' staff were wearing baseball caps back to front - his reply was that they were sub-contractors - even though they had Asda clothes & name badges on. What is the world coming to?
