Can anyone help? I am trying to find out how much a traditional wooden racing eight weighed.
A presnt Empacher 8 weighs under 100kg.
I feel that the boats I used to race would weigh at least 3 times that.

The rowing history site of Bill Miller suggests that in the 1950s a wooden eight would weigh around 300 pounds. Depends on when you were rowing, or whether yours used to leak as much as the boat I learned to row in did!
Do you mean the clinker type or fine boats?
