Would like to see Novak win though both excellent players Nos.1 and 2, but the best player ever in the tennis world has to be Roger Federer and the women - although Maria won the ladies singles - Serena Williams.

Is Federer the best tho? He's only managed one win Roland Garros win and that's because Nadal wasn't there. There is surely an argument that Federer was so dominant as he came along at a time when there was a lull in the male game.
Would he have won 17 majors with Novak and Rafa playing at the level they are now?

Nadal IIRC has 10 majors to his name and if it wasn't for Novak magnificently upping his game over the last year would surely be closing in on Federers record?

Federer is my idol................from watching tennis from the 60's onwards he is the most naturally gifted male player I've ever seen. The best player ever has to be Steffi Graf. I hope Nadal wins today, but it's too close to call.

The bottom line is Roger still holds the record, whether Rafa will overtake him - we will see (taking into account Rafa suffers quite a few injuries)- but what a wonderful role model Roger has been in the world of tennis -

Steffi was great but I think Martina was better and then along came the Williams sister - fantastic.

Brenden Steffi is unbeatable..................she is a true Grand Slam winner i.e. she held all 4 titles in the same calendar year, and she holds the Golden Slam, all 4 slams and an Olympic gold medal at the same time.
