Grandson went to his college open day today to meet his new teachers and other students. On the agenda was sampling some of his future lessons. My advice was not to be a shrinking violet but by the same token don't push yourself forward in every lesson and give other people a chance to shine. One of his chosen subjects is Drama. The students were put in groups and given a situation where they could pick which character they wanted to play and then make up the scene as it went along. For one scene they were in a hospital so he chose to be a doctor and played him with a monocle and a bow tie just like the consultant I had when I was in for an operation. The next was a crime scene where he chose to play the inspector. Remembering what I had said he decided not to go for the lead in the next scene which was in a nightclub and he told us what fun he had had when he returned home. I asked "What part did you play - the barman, the bouncer, the DJ". "I chose a great part" he said. "I chose to be the pole that the strippers danced around and had all the fit girls rubbing up against me!" I blame Mr BD and son of BD cos he certainly didn't get it from me!!
Just phoned his dad and told him. "That's my boy" he said. "Watch out for him at the Oscars in a few years". I dread to think what he did in the Law class. I'm afraid to ask.
Law class? Blimey. He'll be learning the maxim 'last in. first out' , by the sound of it. That's when you should start to worry.(It's nothing to do with student orgies. It's a maxim about priority in mortgages. Disappointing)
