I may have an outing to put some money on a donkey or three at the weekend.

The calendar says there is racing at Market Rasen (NH) or Newmarket (F) on Saturday 21st.

Anyone got any thoughts on which may be more fun ?

Haven't football fans being fighting at Market Rasen this week?
Do you do any camping SD ?

Camping - ye gods my stilettos would sink in the mud :)
Sorry I thought you Hells Angels type did a bit of camping.

Market Rasen is good for pitching up your tent having a good old kness up mixed in with a bit of gambling.

Ah - right - that would sound good - but possibly in a drier summer :)

So MR is 'fun' though ?
MR is different, IT MAKES A NICE CHANGE TO THE HUSTLE AND BUSTLE oops caps ... of places like York races. (and there is little chance of bumping into crafty at MR)

It has been about 3 years since I have been there, maybe all the pubs are shut now, not that it had many.
I never go to York Races Mick..................however the daughter does, and bumping into her would be scarey :-)
I haven't been to Market Rasen Dave, but I would chose Newmarket on the basis that you can go there to NH at Market Rasen any day of the week; where as Newmarket are using the July course which is a summer only course. You'll see top class racing in comfortable surroundings (with plenty of protection from the rain!).

Have a great time whatever you decide and may your money and your donkeys keep good company.

Thanks sibton - 41 runners in the 16:25 at Newmarket - that's not a race, it's a cavalry charge :+()

(or do the numbers drop down during the week?)
the numbers will drop dramatically but if you explore the main site it will give you non runners and up-to-date fields
