Had a bet with ladbokes(£5 each way double)wich went as follows. First bet was 2nd at 3-1 and the following race was a14-1 winner. Can someone break the bet down so i know why i only picked up just over £36. All betting slips scanned and worked out by computer. Seems low to me ! Many thanks.

£36 is right (you only had an e/w double)
Your win bet was beaten so what you have is a £5 place double. I think it's 1/4 the odds for a placed horse. Your £36 seems correct.
Here's the maths as I see it:

£5 at 1/4 of 3-1 (for the place result) = £5 x .75 = £3.75

+ £5 stake = £8.75

£8.75 at 1/4 of 14-1 (still a place bet) = £8.75 x 3.5

= £30.62

+£8.75 stake = £39.37

Looks like one of the bets must have been 1/5th of the odds for you to have picked up just over £36. Unfortunately your 14-1 winning bet was lost on the previous race and you could only get the place portion.
