Why do sportspersons do so much kissing of inanimate objects, Olympic winners their medals, Footballers their shirt badges, Wimbledon winners the plate, Snooker winners the cup, and so on.

What next, MPs kissing ballot boxes ?

try kissing your own ass! just my opinion
I would feel quite uncomfortable kissing an inanimate object, but it just seems to be the 'done thing'. Maybe because their OH, or equivalent, isn't there, it's the next best thing?
It's symbollick !
AP, why not come and play a song on Mamya's thread, since there is nobody to criticize your choice at the moment?
Sorry to invade your thread Canary42!
if i could ever win something against great competition i think i could bruing myself to give it a kiss.

i have been know to pat my kilns with affection.
Kilns, lady-janine? Are you a potter?
yes and i also fuse glass in a decorative way. panels, etc.
in complete contrast how about a bit of bonnie tyler
sorry wrong thread
Wrong thread or not, one is playing right now!
'cos the press photographers tell them to!!
It's about passion my friend. When you are passionate about something, you wouldn't want nothing else but to succeed in it. Athletes kiss their medals and trophies simply because they are happy that they have achieved their goal through hard work and determination. I doubt you won't kiss your trophy or medal when you get to win one yourself.
