Sex in the Olympics

I've just read the CNN report that some 70-75% of the Olympic athletes engage in sexual adventures in the Olympic Village during the two weeks of the games. They either end up having sex with other athletes or with the volunteers who clamour after the stars.
Linford Christie says that the US female football goalkeeper (Hope Solo) is only being truthful when she says the majority of the athletes are engaging in sex "on the grass, behind buiildings" etc. Apparently 150,000 condoms have been made available in the Olympic Village this year as this is a result of the experiences at Sydney and Atlanta. Much of it is due to athletes being on strict diets and abstaining from sex before the games and making up for it afterwards. Many athletes and volunteers will do anything to go with those who've won medals. Often coaches and fellow athletes guard rooms in which they know their colleagues or charges are 'busy'.

I must say it's disappointed me. I like to think the athletes are clean-living and honourable. Instead the CNN report seems to make out that the Olympic Village is a real old knocking shop. I'm sure this didn't happen at other Olympics Games in the past. It's probably yet another example of the degenerate society we live in.

Are other people as disappointed as me or don't people care?

Why are you assuming things are different now?

People generally had more self-respect a few years ago Howard.
We're not talking about 'people' here.
I couldnt care less personally whos having sex in the olympic village. Clean living dosent mean no sex to me x
I thought it was common knowledge that this had been going on for years, there was an article in the times about it a while ago, the swimmers are the worse apparently!
Michael Phelps admitting to peeing in the pool was more disappointing!

Is there a medal for it?

Having casual and random sex with casual acquaintances most certainly isn't clean living is it Tinkerbell!

As I said, anyone who does that can't possibly have any self-respect, nor do they respect those they are prepared to have casual sex with. The whole thing is thurned into a basic animal function. It's the reason most women couldn't magine themselves turning to prostitution as they usually have too much respect for themselves to have sex in that manner with virtual strangers. However, at least prostitutes make money out of it! These individuals who have random sex just have sex for the sake of it!
I also think it's disgusting, Andyvon. But hopefully they're not all at it . I'd like to think most of them, esp GB and Eire have more self respect.
"Are other people as disappointed as me or don't people care?"

I don't care...

Their sex life isn't relevant. in the same way my sex life isn't relevant to my job, as long as it doesn't effect it.

I think attitudes towards sex have changed a lot since you were young, Andy..
Who's to say that this wasn't happening during the "Chariots of Fire" era? Besides, these are fit, healthy young people and not some group of pilgrims on a religious retreat.

They aren't monks and nuns - and they're only "doin' what comes naturally". Wish I had some nubile member of a ladies beach volleyball team coming on to me, that's all I can say!

But you don't make your sex life public knowledge or known to your workmates Chuckfickens. Surely it would concern you if it became known? I'm sure you respect yourself sufficiently to be concerned about it if it did become known. These athletes it seems are all fornicating like animals and they just don't care who knows it!

Drugs have become a feature of life today but everyone soon has a different opinion about an athlete who shoots themselves up to cheat or for pleasure. Someone who respects themselves doesn't do drugs, crawl around drunk in the street, sleep around with multiple partners etc. These people are even condoning their children having random sex today!

Anyone who acts like that obviously has such low respect for themselves that they can't expect others to respect them in the same way as someone who lives decently.
Well...in your opinion ..which you are more than entitled to x
Andyvon; // I'm sure this didn't happen at other Olympics Games in the past.//
It would not surprise me to learn, that at the original Athenian Olympics, bonking reached gold medal standards.
Its just nobodys business that two consenting adults choose to have sex together!!!!

It is when they do it in public Tinkerbell! The reports are that coaches and other athletes have to keep watch outside rooms and some couples are having sex on the grass in full view of anyone including security helicopters etc. It's involving other people, it's offensive and that IS other peoples' business!
"and some couples are having sex on the grass in full view of anyone including security helicopters etc"

It all adds a little spice ;)
They have been like rabbits as past Games, the Winter ones especially, despite the snow between the bits......
at .....not as

Now I know what chopping is - dogging in front of a police/security helicopter. Thanks.
We are talking about healthy fit 18-30 young people are we not. There is bound to be a bit of sex here and there when they are all corralled together in their Olympic accommodation. All have the same mutual interest in sport, relaxing after their gruelling training schedules and nerve wracking events. Today's youth are not much different to yesterdays as far as sexual attraction goes. Good to hear condoms are in evidence obviously the powers that be know to be prepared for such things.
