Look for an upcoming trainer or an upcoming jockey and follow them. Local trainers at local courses.

There are some trainers that are renowned for having horses that have been rejected by others and then they come good?

Alternatively with ground like it has been get a pin or sharp object along with the racing post & stick the pin in the race card. That could be a winner.

Become a bookie.
Mick is close !
If any "method" worked, I think that racing people would know by now. There are dozens; backing second favourites in handicaps is one that always mystified me; but, in the end, the best you can do is apply some common sense and experience. It is literally a fair bet that a trainer who brings just one horse, that's run fairly well on good courses, all the way from Yorkshire to Newmarket to run in a seller, has an owner who has a bit of confidence and money running on the result (when it comes home, nip over and bid against him in the auction, just to irritate him !) And there are other examples where you may reason your way into picking a winner.

But in the end, always remember what one quite big owner said to me "There's a man in a betting shop somewhere like Newcastle, with his few quid and a copy of the racing pages, who is certain my horse is going to win. Look, I don't even know, and I own it ! So what chance has he got ?"
only one winner= the bookies!!!!!!
Just remembered one 'method' of winning. Years ago, before self-service, my family had the Hyperion garage in Newmarket. The travelling head lads used to fill up there. Seeing the old boy on the pump, and feeling generous, they'd tell him if anything in the yard was expected to run particularly well that day. He thus made a few bob for himself, now and again, on small bets. Unfortunately, he hit on a better method. Next time a good car came in, he'd sell the tip he had just got, to the grateful driver! Safer than risking his own money. Sadly, after a month or two, this Prince Monolulu of the 4 star got rumbled and his career, and the tips,on which it depended, came to an end

Thanks to all racing fans who took time to answer my request for any successful systems or methods that worked for them.Of course nobody will wish to give complete details of their precious findings, but I was hoping to attract one or two new ideas to put alongside my own.
Thanks to all of you.
stokemaveric, sibton and owdhamer are your three for this, noviceman....
lol ^^^
Has it occurred to you, noviceman, that there is no such thing as a system or method to win betting on such unpredictable things as horses? They are susceptible to changes of mood for any reason and none. Now, add to that questions of the going, the draw, and even whether the track is right or left handed, then add the fact that a lot of the time the trainer is only sending the horse out to get a better mark in handicaps , then add the handicap weights into the calculation, and a few other variables. Do you seriously believe that any method can cope with all that? If you have, tell me; I've lived near Newmarket all my life and had my colours registered for most of it and I've yet to hear of one !
Are horse racing fans only interested in betting then?
Get to know a bent jockey or a crooked dog trainer. That's the only sure-fire method of winning. Mate of mine had £150-00 on a 6/1 at the dogs...he was given the tip by a bent trainer....cost him £80-00
