As for your assessment, it would appear that there are many ahead of him:

One of the worlds greatest managers disagrees with you. Fergie selected neville on 263 occasions. David moyes isn't that bad either and so far he has called on neville 242 times. 59 call ups to the national side suggest that neville has some qualities that those better placed can see more clearly than you grumpy.
Professional football is littered with very talented individuals who never fulfil their potential due to laziness and a bad attitude, so when a player of limited ability shows them how it's done he should be applauded.

>>>that was Gary Neville he was and is total Crap!!
Yes he only won 8 premier league medals, 3 FA Cups, 2 champion leagues, and was voted into the Premier League "team of the year" 5 times.
He played for Man 400 times in the league and over 100 in Europe (and Fergie does not tend to pick crap players).
He is also Englands most capped right back (picked by a number of different managers).
And you only have to watch him on Sky Sports to see how good a tatician he is and how knowledgable he is on football.
p.s. I am not a Man U fan but some people do talk a load of B*****cks so I need to stick up for Gary Neville.
